The Education & Prevention Department supports cultural change by providing comprehensive sexual violence prevention programming, community assistance, and legislative advocacy to schools, government agencies, and community organizations. These programs are age-appropriate, bilingual, culturally relevant, and rigorously evaluated. Our services are bilingual at no cost to the client.

 

Research shows that many adults have not received adequate education around consent or sexual violence—and have had to critically unlearn behaviors rooted in misunderstanding and cultural norms.. Many children also grow up without this guidance, leaving us all to either learn or unlearn as we navigate relationships. By focusing on consent, healthy masculinity, and shifting social norms, we can better understand and address the root causes of sexual violence. Education is the first step toward prevention.

The Education & Prevention department works closely with LGBTQ+ individuals, immigrant communities, and Santa Fe Public Middle Schools to deliver culturally specific prevention curricula to students and their families. We also offer training for local businesses, helping management and staff build healthier relationships in the workplace.
